Mr. Slaton-Freeman grew up in Austin, Texas and attended law school at the University of Houston. He was active in a number of student organizations and discovered a passion for trial work; he competed in four national mock trial tournaments on behalf of the University of Houston, as well as numerous intramural competitions. He is currently employed by the State of Texas, and has experience with criminal law, family law, and the defense industry.

In his personal time, Mr. Slaton-Freeman enjoys fishing, browsing bookshops, camping, hiking with his dog, kayaking, and outdoor photography.
